The sandbar known as Bantigue can be found to the south of Cabugao Gamay and to the east of Cabugao Dako or Cabugao Grande. You can get a good look at the sandbar from Antonia Beach, even though it’s a few ways off. Even from that far out, you’ll be able to admire the grandeur form it possesses.

From what I’ve seen, the sand on the right side of the sandbar is very fine and powdery. Because of this, it’s a comfortable spot to kick your feet up and sit on the shore. However, due to the fact that it deepens very rapidly not too far from the coast, swimming in it can be quite challenging. The sand on the left side of the beach is littered with rocks, seashells, and dead coral, so sitting there might not be the most comfortable option. On the other hand, swimming is more enjoyable on this side. I suppose you can’t have everything both ways.

There are a few residents who are native to the island. From the sandbar, one can see a number of houses as well as a store. If you have the time, the island is yours to explore. It’s not large anyway. During our time there, our only activities consisted of lounging around and going to the swim. It’s probably for the best that we didn’t go for a stroll since this was our very last destination.

The children of the surrounding town take their afternoon break to go out and play on the sandbar. They joined us in the water and in our games. Even though we could not understand a word that they were saying, they seemed to enjoy having their pictures taken. My friend had given them some goodies just before we left, and they graciously took them. They crowded together on the sand in a couple of seconds and distributed the goodies between their companions as quickly as possible. Touching.
